Supervisory Physical Scientist

Duties

As the Center Director within the Woods Hole Coastal & Marine Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:

• Leads all aspects of Center management and operations, works with science center leadership to develop short- and long-term science and monitoring strategies in response to current and expected future needs of the Natural Hazards and other USGS Mission Areas, the Department of the Interior (DOI), and the Nation
• Develops partnerships and collaborations (both internal and external) to expand the programmatic objectives of USGS science and its applications
• Creates a culture that supports an exceptional workforce through empowerment, a collaborative environment, and optimal two-way communication
• Provides guidance on problematic issues of an unusual or controversial nature; sets/approves work schedules and manages leave; develops performance standards, monitors and evaluates performance, provides annual summary performance ratings and awards and addresses any performance-related issues
• Ensures Center compliance with all relevant quality management policies and procedures and takes corrective actions to address identified deficiencies and vulnerabilities in a timely manner
