Title and Summary Director, Data Engineering Overview As the Director of Data Engineering, you will lead the vision and roadmap for enhanced on-premises and cloud-enabled data products and services for Mastercard Data and Services. In this role, you will provide strategic direction, technical expertise, and hands-on leadership to build and optimize data pipelines, analytics solutions, and data services. Responsibilities - As a Director of Data Engineering, you will be instrumental in driving innovation, ensuring data quality, and fostering collaboration across teams to harness the power of data for informed decision-making. - Lead the design of new data capabilities and infrastructure related to accessing and using MA, third party, and partner data to power Mastercard data products and solutions. - Develop a horizontal technology roadmap in conjunction with Data Strategy & Management team input to enable technology solutions for managing data that meet the needs of multiple business stakeholder groups. - Identify existing data capability and infrastructure gaps or opportunities within and across initiatives and provide subject matter expertise in support of remediation. - Provide technical leadership in data architecture, ensuring best practices for data modeling, storage, and retrieval. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and design solutions that align with business objectives. - Oversee data governance and quality, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with industry standards. - Drive the adoption of advanced analytics techniques and technologies to unlock insights from large datasets. - Mentor and guide a team of data engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. - Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in the data engineering field, incorporating them into the organization's data strategy. - Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for data-driven innovations that enhance business outcomes. - Establish and enforce data security and privacy protocols to safeguard sensitive information - Drive the adoption of agile methodologies and DevOps practices to ensure efficient and high-quality data engineering processes. Additional tasks - Abide by Mastercard’s security policies and practices. - Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of the information being accessed. - Report any suspected information security violation or breach, and - Complete all periodic mandatory security trainings in accordance with Mastercard’s guidelines. About You: • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field • Extensive experience in data engineering, with a strong track record of designing and implementing data solutions. • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, and experience with data processing frameworks (Spark, Hadoop, Databricks, Snowflakeetc.) • In-depth understanding of data warehousing concepts, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and data modeling techniques • Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, as well as data integration and transformation tools • Demonstrated experience in architecture, design and development of scalable distributed event driven data products. • Experience in anonymizing data, data product development, analytical models, and AI governance • Ability to create strategies and plans that define how information can be utilized to support an organization's overall business strategy, and how that information and data is organized, and governed inside an organization. • Familiarity with industry best practices for collection and use of data • Strong project management skills and a demonstrated ability to understand complex information product constructs. • Outstanding problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex data challenges. • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Experience with agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines #LI-TE1 In the US, Mastercard is an inclusive Equal Employment Opportunity employer that considers applicants without regard to gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, disabled or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
