Under general supervision, the Document Automation Specialist will be responsible for legal work product template development within the Contract Express platform. The Document Automation Specialist supports document automation projects within Knowledge Management and Practice Services, by utilizing process automation functionality to drive client value, as well as by using technical drafting skills to translate project requirements into the automation platform syntax. This role will support the delivery of an end-to-end document automation service for the firm that includes requirements analysis, project scoping and planning, automation using Contract Express, document updates, and end user support and training.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Knowledge Management and Practice Services team on document automation projects.
  • Plan, design, build, and test automated documents and solutions using the Contract Express platform.
  • Support users with automation troubleshooting queries.
  • Provide support for users who are creating their own automated legal templates and solutions.
  • Effectively communicate with groups inside and outside of the Knowledge Management and Practice Services team, utilizing process automation functionality to drive client value.
  • Use technical drafting skills in order to translate project requirements into the automation platform syntax.

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

This job requires:

  • a Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university, and,
  • minimum 2  years of experience, or,
  • equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: 

To perform the job successfully, an individual must demonstrate the following knowledge skills and abilities:

  • This position requires a strong understanding of the legal services business model and legal professional work flows.
  • Experience with document automation platforms, such as Contract Express.
  • Fluency with modern office technologies, especially Microsoft Office products.
  • Affinity for utilizing software resources as part of their regular professional operations.
  • Understanding of legal business operations such that projects undertaken by the candidate are clearly derived from organizational competitive strategy. 
  • Excellent drafting skills.
  • Very strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent cross-disciplinary communication capabilities whereby the candidate can adapt their communication strategies to match that of the department’s diverse stakeholder array.
  • Well-developed sense of individual accountability and the assertiveness to rely upon their own professional judgement when necessary.
  • Experience in a law firm or a similar high-demand and time-sensitive professional services environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret general business documents, instructions and manuals, write routine business correspondence, and speak effectively with employees, clients, and vendors.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts, such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry, and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions, involving several variables, in routine situations

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a basic knowledge of / be proficient in the following software:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and may occasionally be required to move about.  The employee is also regularly required to use a computer, involving substantial movements of the wrists, hands and fingers.  The employee is also required to regularly communicate with others.
