We are seeking a Data Center Manager to join our team in Indianapolis, IN. This role is performed on-site and is not remote.
The Data Center Manager position at US Signal is responsible for managing the overall operations and maintenance of multiple mission-critical data centers and facilities. This role will provide leadership and support through communication, planning and strong management. This position requires a technical background in AC and DC electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, telecommunications, fire suppression, building controls, and security. The Data Center Manager reports to the Director of Facilities.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Manage, facilitate, and perform project work for deployment of data center infrastructure and customer projects.
· Monitor, and document data center HVAC, fire suppression, and electrical capacity.
· Help develop quotes for data center infrastructure and customer projects.
· Lead new customer project pricing, planning, install, and documentation.
· Manage and oversee several internal and customer projects at one time.
· Assist in the preventative maintenance program, to include scheduling and/or onsite completion of HVAC, UPS, AC, DC, Plumbing, Fire, and Security PM’s.
· Coordinate and schedule building maintenance, and the activities of sub-contractors.
· Maintain efficient record keeping for security, general building, vendor, and contract files.
· Suggest, document, and implement departmental policies to gain efficiencies.
· Work with other departments to help facilitate and streamline inter-departmental procedures. Manage facility growth projects to include property, layout, electrical, HVAC, fire suppression, and security.
· Manage new customer projects and change orders for current customers. Working closely with project management team at multiple sites.
· Update and maintain all facilities’ owned site drawings.
· Provide guided tours of data centers and colocations, with the ability to address questions from potential customers.
· Coordinate with internal teams to facilitate facility planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
· Monitor, document and report on all phases of planning and construction.
· Manage all parties involved in growth projects.
· Suggest, document, and implement departmental policies to gain efficiencies.
· Work with other departments to help facilitate and streamline inter-departmental procedures.
· Back up for other facilities’ department personnel.
· Other duties as provided by US Signal management.
COMPETENCIES:
· Knowledge of facilities planning and construction management processes and procedures.
· Knowledge of estimating, budgeting, and scheduling practices.
· Knowledge of building codes and standards of practice at all of our locations.
· Experience working with electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and security equipment.
· High level of analytical ability and effective communicator (written and verbal).
· Attention to detail, highly accurate, and possess excellent organizational skills.
· Self-driven and possess the ability to manage projects and multi-task to meet strict deadlines.
· Ability to work well within all areas of the US Signal organization as well as with external customers and vendors.
Education:
Associates degree in Facilities Management, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related technical degree is preferred.
Experience:
Experience working in data centers and/or experience with data center infrastructure to include electrical, HVAC, fire suppression, and security systems.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
This position operates in a variety of environments. The majority of the time is spent in a professional office environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment. This position requires unaided lifting of up to 100#, climbing ladders or scaffolding, repeated bending, crouching, stooping, stretching and/or crawling. Personal Protective Equipment includes safety glasses, protective gloves, and hard hat, all as necessary.
Required License(s)/Certification(s):
Valid, active driver’s license with a good driving record as defined by the Company’s current insurance provider.
