What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Maint Clerk position at US Veterans Health Administration?
The following qualifications are preferred:
• Some familiarity with DOT regulations
• Basic computer skills (word processing, data base, spreadsheets)
• Proficiency in typing and ten key calculator
Hours: Start times, 7:30 A.M. Mon. - Fri., Normally 8 1/2 hour shifts per day. (overtime may be required)
The Transportation Clerk shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Responsibility will include dealing with many people over the phone, and as such needs a clear telephone voice and a pleasant disposition. It is imperative that he or she can communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, as well as work well with numbers. A large part of the job will include filling out government reports and doing internal auditing of various records required by the Department of Transportation. As such this individual will need to be proficient with and enjoy detail work.
He or she will need to be a self-starter and able to work without direct supervision.
The successful applicant will need to be able to work well with others and coordinate activities with other departments and supervisors.
He or she will be required to operate and be familiar with personal computers. This will include but not be limited to word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications. Extensive use of ten key calculators and Personal Computers will occur.
He or she will also be required to work outside in whatever the conditions are from time to time. Will be required to sit, and stand for long periods of time. Will be required to lift and move large amounts of paperwork (boxes of files). Will be required to stoop, bend, and reach above the head and below the knees to file and retrieve data
