U.S. Water Services Corporation is a well-established and diverse water and wastewater utility organization specializing in utility maintenance, operations, engineering and construction services. U.S. Water is a fast paced and rapidly expanding company headquartered in New Port Richey, Florida with a staff of over 700 employees in twenty states.

Summary:

The Fleet Manager will promote and assure a safe operation of all vehicles/equipment and develop a safety-first culture within the fleet of USWSC. The Fleet Manager should implement fleet programs that contribute to the achievement of overall company goals. Develop strategies that implement long-term planning to produce fleet budgets each year and develop strategies for cost containment and reductions. USWSC currently utilizes Holman (formerly ARI Fleet Management services) and a GPS tracking system to manage and monitor the USWSC fleet. Vehicles include both light and heavy-duty utility pick-up trucks, some tractor trailers, vacuum trucks, excavation equipment, trailers and ancillary type equipment. The Fleet Manager will ensure that the daily operation of the fleet meets the service and efficiency standards of the company. This position will develop programs and policies that ensure a high level of uptime (at least ninety-eight (98%) percent, depending upon equipment classification and expectations), quality workmanship and low cost of ownership.


Responsibilities:

  • Overall strategic management of the fleet with a focus on metrics and benchmarking that contemplate vehicle acquisition, replacement planning, funding alternatives, and sourcing alliances with manufacturers and suppliers
  • Determine appropriate life cycle replacement costs that reduce vehicle ownership and operating costs while preserving vehicle resale value
  • Strong leadership and management skills with little to no direct supervision
  • Demonstrate expertise in cost containment, perform cost to benefit analysis of major and/or significant repairs to include depreciation considerations
  • Develop appropriate standard specifications for vehicle procurement
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations including DOT requirements will be executed safely and legally according to Federal, State, and Company regulations
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors and/or manufacturers for remote site maintenance
  • Responsible for accident prevention, reporting and investigation
  • Assists the regional managers with their day-to-day fleet needs
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining an accurate inventory of all vehicles and equipment
  • Possess industry knowledge of transportation, logistics, planning, and analytical process improvements
  • Perform additional related duties and assignments as directed by management
  • Maintains electronic fleet tracking for all vehicles
  • Capital Planning for vehicle and equipment replacement
  • Management of inhouse renewal and replacement of equipment and vehicles
  • Tracking of fuel consumption by vehicle
  • Overall responsibility for maintaining the fleet database
  • Management of computerized preventative maintenance program
  • Possess proficient general knowledge of repair and maintenance costs

Required Skills:

  • Strong leadership and management skills with little to no direct supervision
  • Minimum of ten (10) years' experience as a fleet manager or service manager in a fleet consisting of over 300 or more vehicles including light and heavy equipment
  • Proficient with Holman (formerly ARI), Azuga and Microsoft Office functions with emphasis on Excel and Access
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of all Federal DOT, Safety, and Regulatory issues in transportation
  • Ability to recognize, isolate and solve problems that improve company's overall performance
  • Work closely with internal and external departments

Environment and Physical Requirements:
The majority of the work week will be in office with occasional travel by automobile. Duties to include administrative functions using the phone, computer and communicating with people. This job will require lifting of up to 50 pounds. Must be able to sit a minimum of 8 hours per day, perform keyboard operations a minimum of 6 hours per day, and must be able to stand and climb stairs as required. There will be bending of the waist, wrist and shoulders.
