The Impact You’ll Make in this Role As a Manufacturing Lean Value Stream Product Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: Being responsible for the continuous improvements to assigned products at the Brownwood, TX plant. Willing to be assigned to one or more of the reflective sheeting, reflective fabric products, reflective beads, security materials, printing inks, or other related products. Being Responsible for the end-to-end value stream of assigned products from raw materials to finished goods, which requires aggressive delivery of complex and diverse solutions which drive results in EHS, quality, customer service, cost reductions and new product qualifications. Maintaining an awareness of quality improvement and product opportunities and is productive in suggesting and testing ideas. Developing and implementing quality systems and processes of major complexity. Initiating, identifying, recommending, and overseeing programs to improve: 1) product quality, customer service, delivered cost, and/or 2) process safety and health/environmental impact. Fostering and cultivating an extensive network of support and resources (laboratory, quality, financial, manufacturing, engineering, sales, and marketing) to facilitate completion of assignments. participating in developing project assignments and completes assignments without detailed instructions. Being responsible for Cross-functional team leadership for new product start-ups, new process technology integration, cost reduction, and supply chain improvement using Lean Six Sigma. Being aware of implications of intellectual property on the process(es); while providing appropriate and timely documentation of work as required by the business. Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: Currently possess or in the last semester of obtaining Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or related field (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution Two (2) combined years of experience in manufacturing and/or engineering in a private, public, government or military environment Experience with mixing, compounding, milling, and related chemical process technologies Experience in coating, drying and/or converting roll goods in web line applications Experience in ceramics manufacturing Experience in microreplication coating technologies Ability to analyze, problem solve and implement solutions Effective project management skills with proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget Excellent organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with time constraints Works well on cross-functional teams in a continuous improvement (LEAN) environment Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Minitab Excellent computer skills – Excel, Minitab, PowerPoint and Project Excellent communication, both verbal and written, and influencing skills Ability to multi-task and handle large workloads under time constraints Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international Location: Brownwood, TX Relocation Assistance: May be authorized Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
