What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driving Opportunity position at USA CDL Recruiting?

  • Minimum of 3 months experience in the last 36 months. The 3 months experience must be with no
    more than two carriers, and driver can have no preventable CMV accidents during the 3 months

  • For drivers with less than 6 months of experience, the driver can have no preventable CMV roadway accidents
  • 21 Years old age requirement
  • *** Any military experience in the last 5 years must be listed on the application. If the experience is in the last 3 years, a copy of the DD214 is required.
    *** For periods of driving self-employment used to achieve qualifying experience, driver must provide a valid DOT number and verifiable insurance for the entire period.
    *** Unions are a membership organization, not valid employment.
    *** Military Reserves work one weekend per month and is nonsufficient to cover an applicant’s entire work history. Driver must have additional employment or follow self-employment/unemployment guidelines.
    * Truck driving school/training doesn’t count as experience.
    * Experience must be T/T. Trailers must be greater than 40 feet.

    * If a Driver has a license in another state other than the state the job's hiring area, they can apply and they have 30 days to switch their license over to that state.
    * Drivers CANNOT be under contract with another carrier

    Moving Violations (max in 3 year period)
    • No more than 3 in the last 3 years
    • No more than 2 in the last 12 months

    Policy on License suspensions
    • In the last year, a Drivers license cannot be suspended for more than 6 months
    • Driver must hold a valid license for at least 18 months before they qualify after a suspension
    * This includes all license suspensions.

    Accidents
    • Minor Preventable CMV Accident – Private Yard or Parking Lot - No more than 6 in last 3 years
    • Minor Preventable CMV Accident – Roadway - No more than 4 in last 3 years
    • DOT Preventable Accident: No more than 2 in last 3 years
    • U-Turn Accident In A CMV: Requires 24 months of safe Driving
    • DOT-Recordable Accident (Preventable): No more than 1 in last 12 months
    • Preventable or At-Fault with fatality (CMV or POV): 5 years with safe driving record

    Ticket / Accident / Incident Combo
    • No more than 4 in the past 36 months

    Maximum Major Moving Violation (in the last 3 years)
    • No Careless or Reckless driving in the last 12 months while holding a Class A CDL (POV or CMV)
    • No Careless or Reckless driving in the last 6 months while holding a regular license
    • No 15 MPH over in the last 12 months while holding a Class A CDL (POV or CMV)
    • No 15 MPH over in the last 6 months while holding a regular license
    • No Failure to obey has to be 12 months old while holding a Class A CDL (POV or CMV)
    • No Failure to obey has to be 6 months while holding a regular license
    • Leaving the scene of an accident must be outside of 2 years as long as the Driver did not hold a Class A CDL.
    • Improper or erratic lane change outside of 12 months while holding a Class A CDL (POV or CMV)
    • Improper or erratic lane change outside of 6 months while holding a regular license
    • No following too close within the past 12 months while holding a Class A CDL (POV or CMV)
    • No following too close within the past 6 months while holding a regular license

    Max. Number of Jobs- in the last 3 years
    • No more than 4 in the last year
    • No more than 6 in the last 2 years
    • No more than 8 in the last 3 years

    Policy Against Unemployment- even if it is accounted for
    • Will review

    Terminated Applicants
    • Drivers discharged for safety reasons by a prior employer require 6 months of verified subsequent safe driving in a CMV in order to be eligible for employment consideration.



    Felony Convictions - How old must they be?
    Based off the conviction date? What are the "silver bullets"?

    • No felony for arson or theft in the last 10 years
    • No theft by check in the past 3 years
    • No drug charges in the past 10 years
    • All sex offenses must be approved by HR
    • All domestic violence is case by case
    * All other charges will be reviewed
    * Go by conviction date

    Misdemeanors- How old must they be?
    Automatic DQ's?

    • None within the last 3 years
    • Drug & theft charges must be outside of 5 years
    • All sex offenses must be approved by HR
    • No theft by check in the past 3 years
    • All domestic violence is case by case

    DUI/DWI- What is the max number and what
    time frames do they need to fall outside of?

    • No conviction or violation for operating a POV while under the influence of alcohol (DUI/DWI) within the past 10 years if the offense occurred while the driver held a CDL-A or Commercial Learners Permit.
    • No conviction or violation for operating a POV while under the influence of alcohol (DUI/DWI) within the last 5 years if the offense occurred prior to the driver obtaining a CDL-A or Commercial Learners Permit.
    • No two or more convictions or violations for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol (DUI/DWI).
    • No convictions or violations for operating a CMV while under the influence of alcohol (DUI/DWI).
    • No refusal to take an alcohol test as required by a State or jurisdiction under its implied consent laws or regulations defined in FMCSR 383.72.

    Is Haz-Mat Required? Is there a grace period for
    driver to obtain it?

    Automatic DQ's
    • No speeding in a school or construction zone in the last 6 months while holding a Class A CDL, Outside of 3 months if not holding a CDL
    • More than three moving violations in the past three years
    • More than two moving violation in the last 12 months
    • Any license suspensions in the last 12 months related to moving violations
    • Open container driver or passenger convictions in the last 3 years in a POV for both Experienced and Student Drivers
    • Fleeing or evading law enforcement while operating a CMV or while holding a Class A CDL - 3 years if holding CDL, 1 year if not holding CDL
    • Motor vehicle traffic control violation (other than parking violation) resulting in a fatality
    • RR Crossing violations in a CMV - 6 months if holding CDL, 3 months if not holding CDL
    • No Drivers under contract with another carrier
    • Failed/Refused drug screen in a lifetime

    Drug Screening
    • Hair Follicle & Urine
    • No conviction or violation related to the use of a controlled substance in the past 10 years if the offense occurred while the driver held a CDL-A or Commercial Learners Permit
    • No conviction or violation related to the use of a controlled substance within the last 5 years if the offense occurred prior to the driver obtaining a CDL-A or Commercial Learner’s Permit.

    DOT Physical Requirements
    • Drivers are no longer required to take DOT physicals with at Orientation unless their med cert is not current on their MVR, they are no longer required to take the physical.
    • All drivers are given a PST (Physical Standards Test) and they are told before going in that they have to complete this. Lift, push, balance and squat - all of those things including the Physical, road test and drug screen are things completed in orientation.
