Responsibilities
The RN Unit Educator prepares, provides, and evaluates education for team members in one or more clinical units using available evidence and consistent with principles of adult learning; assesses educational needs using feedback from front-line staff, quality and safety data, anticipated regulatory and technological updates, and recommendations from leaders; plans and delivers educational offerings based upon best available evidence, that is consistent with principles of adult learning, and tailoring the methodologies to the content as well as the size of the class and learning needs of the target audience; evaluates effectiveness of educational offerings; revises educational offerings based upon evaluation feedback or ‘just in time’ needs; facilitates initial on-boarding and orientation of new team members; in addition to scheduled educational offerings, provides ‘just in time’ education to one or more team members; provides individual support to team members as needed, to include participation in and support during bedside care; serves as a ‘superuser’ on equipment and supplies as needed; trains team members on new equipment and supplies as needed; performs annual and on-going competency assessments; committee/meeting participation includes the following and may not be limited to education, evidence-based practice, policy and procedure, unity decision council, unit staff meetings and nurse shared governance; provides direct patient care during times of need that is consistent with USA Health staff nurse job description; assists staff development in tracking staff’s life support training when needed; keeps team members' education files up to date; coordinates team member cross-training to other clinical unit(s) or teams as needed; assists with regulatory readiness activities as needed, such as completing tracers and supporting staff members to achieve survey readiness; assists with and/or authors policies and procedures when required; understands and supports evidence-based clinical decision making; regular and prompt attendance and the ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and five years of expereince OR bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing and two years of experience. Current Alabama RN license or current Multi-State RN License in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) for Alabama. Note: USA Health abides by the NLC requirements and guidelines for the state of Alabama.
Emergency medicine experience required.
Masters degree preferred.
