Job Title: Coordinator, Communications
Department: Communications
Basic Function: Serve in lead communications role in support of select U.S. national teams, including the U.S. National Sled Team, and also serve as key communications strategist particularly related to youth hockey and coaching education initiatives
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Serve in lead communications role for select U.S. national teams as assigned, including U.S. National Sled Team. Produce releases, digital media guide, other content/supporting materials for teams and serve as media liaison
- Serve as lead communications conduit for USA Hockey business areas as assigned
- Develop PSAs and other collateral materials that support/promote various USA Hockey initiatives
- Assist in developing/managing communication efforts/content related to USA Hockey National Championships
- Support visibility initiatives/content in/around Hockey Week Across America, Welcome Back Week, Try Hockey For Free, USA Hockey Player Development Camps and other youth-related initiatives
- In collaboration with various departments, play a lead role in constructing, editing and distributing USA Hockey enewsletters
- Assist in content management for USAHockey.com and USA Hockey Magazine
- Utilize media outreach to advance coverage of USA Hockey initiatives
- Other responsibilities as assigned, including, but not limited to, assisting in executing all major events hosted and/or managed by USA Hockey, including Annual Congress, U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame, and Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award.
Qualifications:
Required
• Bachelor’s degree; 2-plus years of applicable full-time professional experience is preferred
• Experience using Adobe Creative Suite and ability to fully produce/edit video packages
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to think creatively and innovatively
• High degree of initiative and the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines as required
• Excellent writing and editing skills
• Motivated professional who thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
• Demonstrated knowledge of hockey
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays
• Willingness to travel, including internationally
• Ability to positively engage with members of the media, the broad constituent groups part of USA
Hockey and the general public
Salary: $45,000-$50,000. This is a full-time position. Benefits include health/dental/vision insurance, vacation/sick time, and 403B matching after six months.
Availability: Position available immediately at USA Hockey’s national headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colo. This is not a remote position.
