Basic Function: The Director, Partnership Sales is responsible for generating revenue for USA Hockey through the development of new and renewed corporate sponsorships, licensing of USA Hockey trademarks, and merchandise sales through on-line and retail outlets. The individual will also be charged with leading the sponsor servicing strategy in a way that delivers against sponsor objectives, while also seeing USA Hockey serve as a trusted and reliable means of sponsor investment.
Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Identify, research, prospect and sell new corporate sponsorships to achieve revenue goals as identified in the organization’s strategic plan and budget forecasts
- Establish relationships with brand decision makers and agency representatives to ensure that USA Hockey is a consideration as they evaluate their sport sponsorship strategies
- Direct the day-to-day relationship and engagement strategy with all of USA Hockey’s corporate partners, licensees, suppliers and retail partners with a focus on helping them reach and exceed their business objectives through their relationship with USA Hockey
- Negotiate all new and renewed sponsorship, supplier and licensing contracts from written proposals and presentations through final contract negotiation and signature
- Establish relationships with other department heads to build upon and execute the Corporate Marketing and sales goals as outlined in the strategic plan, and to ensure cross-functional support where needed for sponsor activations
- Provide guidance and support for the Manager, Sponsor Servicing to ensure that partner deliverables are being met as contracted
- Serve as the liaison with USA Hockey’s third-party sponsorship sales partners, and provide timely data and information to support their sales and prospecting efforts
- Liaise with external partners on matters of mutual interest pertaining to the sponsorship space, and maintain proper understanding of industry trends
- Work with licensees and retail partners to develop new product lines, monitor USA Hockey trademarks and drive sales of USA Hockey branded product through the on-line and retail store operations
- Support internal USA Hockey departments, external volunteer association, and leagues on sponsorship related issues
- Develop and manage event sponsorship opportunities in conjunction with external rights holders such as the International Ice Hockey Federation, the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee
- Develop and manage the corporate marketing budget including forecasting and management of sponsor, supplier and licensee billings and receivables
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Four-year college degree, preferably in Business or Marketing
- Minimum of 7 years of work experience to include leadership roles in sponsorship sales, partnership marketing, management, budgeting, and project development in a sports environment
- Experience in sponsorship development and contract negotiation
- Experience in strategic planning, marketing development, merchandising and sales
- Experience managing and forecasting budgets
- Supervisory experience
- Ability to travel as necessary
- Knowledge of ice hockey preferred
- Highly-motivated individual
- Well-spoken and have excellent written communication skills as well as listening skills
- Exceptional work ethic and a strong desire to succeed
Additional Information:
· This position requires regular travel
· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint or similar presentation tools
· Work schedule will include office hours as well as event responsibilities on evenings, weekends and holidays
· Office in a multi-level building
Salary: $110,000 - $115,000 annually DOE
Benefits include health/dental/vision, vacation, sick, and personal time, 403B with match after six months and 10-12 paid holidays per year.
