Job Description

The Manager, Beach and National Team Events, is a regular full-time position reporting directly to the Director, Beach & National Team Events and Sponsorship. This position is responsible for orchestrating high-profile sporting events for regional beach qualifiers and international matches for domestic competitions. This role demands exceptional organizational skills, diplomatic adeptness, and a deep commitment to excellence.  A crucial aspect of this position is relationship stewardship, as the manager must cultivate and nurture long-term partnerships with domestic constituents as well as international federations, foreign teams, and sponsors. This requires cultural sensitivity and strong communication skills, and the ability to navigate unique complexities.  Cross departmental support is a general expectation of all USAV employees. Additional hours may be required to include nights, weekends, and holidays. This position works from the Colorado Springs office; however, a remote work location may be possible given strong candidate qualifications. Moderate travel will be required. 

Requirements

  

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Provide support to Director, Beach & National Team Events & Sponsorship in administration, event management, communications, value-in-kind ordering (VIK), budgeting, customer service and sponsorship deliverables.  
  • Execute international confederation events within the U.S. and manage allocated budget.
  • Identify and secure independent contractors and/or propose additional support measures. Ensure independent contractor agreements are fulfilled in accordance with contractual terms and deadlines. 
  • Reconcile Independent Contractor and Vendor Payments for National Team Events.
  • Work with USAV Beach Tour National Qualifier Hosts to confirm schedules, logistics and publicize events. 
  • Provide excellent customer service addressing inquiries regarding membership platform procedures, and event registration assistance to USA Volleyball members, Regional Volleyball Associations, event promoters/hosts, participants and prospective members/participants in relation to USAV Beach Tour and other USAV-managed beach events. 
  • Work with USAV Beach Tour National Qualifier Hosts to confirm schedules, logistics and publicize events. 
  • Responsible for forecasting, managing, and executing assigned budget. 
  • Coordinate with constituents to plan and coordinate schedules and activities for USAV Beach Tour events. 
  • Maintain online registration system for all USAV Beach Tour National Qualifier events. 
  • Collaborate with constituents to coordinate tournament logistics, collegiate event team seeding and provide on-site support at select USAV Beach events. 
  • Verify athlete and coach participation eligibility prior to each USAV Beach event. 
  • Collect and post results from USAV Beach Tour National Qualifiers to the USAV beach rankings system. Distribute and analyze participant survey feedback following USAV Beach events. 
  • Identify operational efficiencies while ensuring program quality. 
  • Coordinate with Marketing and Communications department to produce and provide content for marketing and promoting events including website updates, social media, online resources, brochures, fliers, etc. 
  • Create and distribute content for instructional materials, website , registration, and events. 
  • Produce correspondence, proposals, reports, recommendations, and requested projects. 
  • Manage and execute logistical activities for National Team Events and provide on-site operational support. Activities include preparing/shipping pallets, assisting with set-up/tear-down of events, providing signage, tent cards and forms. 
  • Work with apparel and equipment sponsors to identify and implement procurement efficiencies.
  • Maintain and distribute team event management handbooks  
  • Work with logistics coordinator to develop quad (4-year) calendar plans for VIK. 
  • Responsible for identifying and implementing inventory controls that can be applied across USAV business units. 
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Administration, related degree or equivalent work experience. 
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience coordinating sport events or related field. 
  • Must be able to work well independently, collaborate with USAV departments, foreign team representatives, independent contractors and other USAV constituents. 
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills. 
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint. 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Be able to safely and comfortably lift 50 pounds. 
  • Must be able to successfully pass a USAV background screening (prior to hire date). 
  • Must successfully complete SafeSport Training within two weeks of hire date and remain current. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with budgeting is a plus. 
  • Working knowledge of beach volleyball events. 
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write in Spanish is a plus. 

Salary:  $55 - $60K
