What are the responsibilities and job description for the Underwriter - Renewal position at USLI?
We are seeking insurance or business professionals eager to make an impact on USLI’s Renewal Underwriting teams.
Minimum Requirements:
We are looking for candidates with either of the following backgrounds:
- At least three years of prior underwriting experience in commercial property and casualty insurance, personal insurance, or management liability/professional liability insurance
- At least five years of prior business experience
- Successful candidates have had prior business experience in the following industries:
- Insurance experience other than underwriting, such as sales, claims
- Financial services, such as banking, mortgage underwriting, financial consulting, asset management, business analysts
- Legal services, such as attorneys, paralegals
Additionally, we are looking for people who can think critically, make good decisions and communicate clearly. Candidates must be positive, self-motivated team players with strong analytical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment.
Underwriters are responsible for the selection and pricing of renewal risks in accordance with company underwriting guidelines and service promises. Responsibilities also include developing and maintaining relationships with customers in order to achieve renewal retention and company goals. Successful candidates must embrace our underwriting model, exhibit critical thinking in all facets of the role, be able to articulate our products and value proposition to customers, and train/coach other underwriters as needed.
