Job Summary
Performs
journeyman level work in the installation, maintenance, modification, overhaul,
service, and repair of University heating, ventilation, air conditioning,
refrigeration, and related systems; assists foreman in scheduling work and
serves as foreman in the foreman’s absence; advises and assists engineers and
architect in the systems design process; completes timesheets, work orders, log
books and other reports as needed. This
position is considered essential personnel and could require emergency duty
during hurricanes or other emergency situations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains, modifies, installs, and repairs campus heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment in a timely fashion.
- Supervises personnel and assigns duties for specific projects.
- Advises engineers and planners on the purchase and installation of HVAC equipment such as pumps, compressors, air handlers, DDC controls, piping, and valves.
- Supervises, schedules and performs the preventive maintenance on pumps, air handlers, cooling towers, air compressors and other mechanical equipment. Manages and works overtime as needed.
- Supervises and administers the repair, overhaul or replacement of domestic and commercial refrigeration system parts and equipment, such as compressors, motors, controls, refrigerant, as well as removing and installing new equipment.
- Attends and actively participates in training opportunities provided by the department.

assigned.
