Job Purpose: The Senior Director of Business Development will spearhead the strategic growth and development initiatives for the hospital, with an initial focus on expanding the specialty programs with USMD, identifying new opportunities, cultivating partnerships, and implementing innovative tactics to drive revenue growth and enhance patient care within these specialty areas. This role is designed to increase utilization of USMD Arlington and promote the hospital’s service lines through comprehensive development efforts.
Education & Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business management or equivalent.
Required Licenses/Certifications: None
Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years of healthcare business development experience including strategic growth, marketing, website development and management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning
- Participate in strategic planning sessions to ensure business development efforts are aligned with the overall vision and mission of the organization.
- Communicate regularly with executive team members to provide updates on business development initiatives and seek input on strategic direction.
- Work cross-functionally with other departments, such as executive leadership team, finance, and operations to develop comprehensive and cohesive business development strategies to expand the hospital’s presence in the market.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify growth opportunities and emerging trends.
- Evaluate processes and procedures to ensure the hospital is set up for success.
- Identify key target demographics and geographic areas for expansion.
- Evaluate competitor strategies and market positioning to inform the hospital’s approach.
- Optimize Utilization
- Responsible for working with department leaders to maximize hospital utilization by directly collaborating with surgeons and their teams to optimize the engagement of current medical staff.
- Establish strategic partnerships to gain deeper insights into existing barriers, operational processes, and potential business opportunities
- Develop and implement a robust communication strategy to engage with the community and stakeholders effectively.
- Market Analysis
- Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive landscapes, and potential growth opportunities.
- Utilize data-driven insights to inform decision-making processes and optimize resource allocation.
- Partnership Development
- Cultivate strategic partnerships with healthcare providers and other stakeholders to enhance utilization, access to care, and patient outcomes.
- Identify opportunities to grow key specialty programs and enhance hospital utilization.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including physicians, referral sources, community leaders, and industry partners, fostering collaboration and mutual support.
- Serve as a spokesperson for the hospital in external forums and events, representing the organization professionally and promoting its values and mission.
- Program Expansion
- Lead the development and implementation of new programs and services within strategically identified specialties.
- Develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans utilizing various channels including social media, website development, targeted advertising, and community outreach to raise awareness and increase patient acquisition.
- Collaborate with clinical leadership, physicians, and staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Talent Acquisition
- In conjunction with Human Resources identify and recruit top talent to support the growth and expansion of our specialty programs.
- Build and develop team to support patient navigation and engagement with network of PCPs in the market.
- Revenue Generation
- Develop and execute revenue generation strategies to achieve financial targets and sustainable growth.
- Drive business development efforts through marketing campaigns and referral navigation programs.
- Risk Management and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and industry guidelines in all business development activities.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with new initiatives or partnerships, working closely with legal and compliance teams to protect the hospital's interests and reputation.
- Continuous Improvement and Innovation
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within leadership the team, encouraging the exploration of new ideas and approaches to drive growth and enhance patient care.
