DESCRIPTION: Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation (USNC) is seeking outstanding talent to join its dynamic team developing clean energy and space propulsion in a brand-new Advanced Ceramic Manufacturing (ACM) Facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Staff Technician will support day-to-day operation of binder jet additive manufacturing systems and related processes for 3D printing of refractory ceramic carbides. Under guidance of engineering staff, the technician will be responsible for supporting optimal and efficient operation of these systems while maintaining compliance with all safety and quality assurance procedures. This position reports to the Director of Additive Manufacturing for the Core Division of USNC. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support engineering staff in operation, maintenance, and calibration of binderjet additive manufacturing systems to produce refractory ceramic components
- Maintain product and feedstock material inventory
- Perform product and feedstock material characterization
- Maintain compliance with company, safety, and quality assurance requirements
- Work with engineering team to ensure manufacturing targets are met
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing or laboratory setting, or Associates Degree and a minimum 1 years’ experience in a laboratory setting
- Familiarity with routine chemical and powder handling procedures and practices
- Aptitude and experience in hands-on material processing with the ability to carefully follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to meticulously record processing details and data derived from production
- Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted and work in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
- Basic computer and communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous binder jet additive manufacturing or related experience
- Basic CAD skills (e.g., SolidWorks)
- Understanding of materials processing and characterization methods
- Experience working within EH&S and QA program requirements
