What are the responsibilities and job description for the PRN GI Tech- North Garland Surgery Center position at USPI?
Busy multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center seeking PRN GI tech. Position is Monday through Friday, some Saturdays available and no holidays. Candidate must be dependable and cooperative with physicians and other co-workers. Scope of service for this center includes orthopedics, GYN, ENT, general surgery, gastroenterology, pain management, and plastics.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned:
1. Efficiently and effectively assists physician with operative procedures
- Anticipates surgeon/physician’s needs both in preparing for procedures and during procedure
- Demonstrates knowledge of specific responsibilities in all emergency situations.
2. Ensures sterility of all supplies and instruments during set up of surgical procedures.
3. Handles instruments in a manner which prolongs “life” of instrument.
4. Assists circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining sterile environment.
5. Assists circulating nurse in gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment. Is responsible for doing sponge, needle, and instrument count pre-operatively and intra-operative with the circulating nurse.
6. Gowns and gloves surgeons and assistants.
7. Assists in keeping physician preference cards accurate/updated.
8. Transports all surgical equipment to appropriate cleaning areas. Assists in sterile supply with cleaning and reprocessing of instrument sets.
Required Experience:
- Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma / GED
- 4 years experience as a GI Tech or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CPR certification required.
