What are the responsibilities and job description for the Unit Secretary position at USPI?
Provides support of patient care delivery by attending to clerical and clinical support as directed by assigned unit.
Required Skills:
1. Performing clerical duties related to patient care, and documentation of patient information while prioritizing and organizing work assignments based on changing needs and situations in the department.
2. Developing a rapport and cooperative relationship with nursing and clinical staff and responding to questions/requests from healthcare providers.
3. Organizing and filing medical information appropriately
4. Answering the phones, and communicating clearly when receiving information from other units, physicians and/or guests.
5. Safeguarding sensitive medical information and practicing strict procedures in handling confidentiality of data pertaining to patients, clinicians, employees, and visitors
6. Serving as a resource within the department in terms of helping to troubleshoot computer and systems usage issues
7. Assists in clerical duties related to facility and department specific performance improvement projects.
8. Maintaining and stocking all designated clerical related supplies and equipment in the department
9. Completing other/varied tasks as necessary to ensure the efficient operation of the department
10. Acts as a central contact point for callers into the department assigned
11. Checks inventory and stocks all forms and supplies daily
12. Requires the ability to use specialized applications software and computer systems.
13. Other additional duties as assigned.
Required Experience:
Holds a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate, Medical Assistant licensure, or Licensed Practical Nurse License for the state of NM.
Current BLS required.
Demonstrates necessary clinical competency.
