Safety Supervisor Overview
In this position you will support the development and maintain an effective safety program which will minimize accidents, injuries, and other risks associated with a DOT classified workforce. Training, direction, and recommendations will be how we improve week over week.
You will also have partners at a home office level in various departments to monitor and advise as to regulatory and compliance risks.
Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to)
- Safety focused every day. Working with drivers and assistants on current and new safety training compliance, programs, and refresher courses.
- Support training during delivery operation either by ride behinds or ride with a driver / team.
- Defensive Driving Program
- Classroom and practical “hands-on” training during onboarding and remedial as needed
- Safety Functions:
- Driver document (DL, Medical Card, Road Test, FMCSA receipt) expirations
- Completion of Accident Reports
- Conveying completion of monthly Safety Buzz sign-off sheets
- Equipment audits
- Ride behinds, ride along with extra training
- When not performing safety-specific responsibilities, support location operational needs
Requirements
- Fluent in Microsoft software, excel, reporting, metrics, analysis of data
- Must have a current or be able to obtain at least a 1-year DOT Medical Card
- Knowledge of DOT compliance
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Valid Driver's License in the driver’s state of residency
- Minimum 2 years of experience driving commercial vehicles (vehicles over 10,500 pounds and/or with DOT sticker) preferred
- Operational safety KPIs and execute training to meet and exceed company goals.
- Safety, training experience, coaching, presentation skills. Preferred
- Customer service skills and ability to work well with others
- Able to pass a comprehensive background check, MVR, and drug screen
- Able to safely walk, bend, push, pull, twist, squat, and kneel regularly each day
- Can team lift and carry more than 150 pounds regularly
- Reliable and punctual with dedicated professionalism to job and duties
- Flexible with work schedule, including some weekends, holiday, and different shifts. Must be able to work a schedule that begins early in the morning and continues until the route is complete
- Previous appliance installation experience preferred
- Previous leadership or coaching experience preferred
- High School diploma and equivalent experience
- Although not a remote position, travel within the area and support for new business is require as needed. Estimate 20-30% travel potential.
