Medical Equipment (MEQ) Planner

Job Description

Collaborating with end users, construction and architect teams, this role develops the needs of medial equipment for ongoing capital projects that standardize capital equipment across the organization. This includes new builds and renovations of existing facilities. The MEQ planner will develop budgets, review contracts and negotiate pricing to ensure the organization is receiving the best offer from vendors. The MEQ planner will also have a working knowledge of what medical equipment is used for.

Responsibilities

• Participation in project and meetings, supporting the project manager.
• Leads and participates in medical equipment planning meetings throughout project design phases with clinical users, architects, engineers, and consultants to support the selection of appropriate medical equipment and attend off-site and remote client planning meetings and conduct virtual meetings.
• Collaborates on medical equipment requirements with clinical users, architects, engineers, and other consultants for clinical spaces based on program information from architects.
• Develops medical equipment lists and associated estimated costs projects and revises medical equipment lists and estimated costs as projects move from schematic design, design development, and construction documents through procurement and installation.
• Conducts and documents surveys and inventories of existing equipment within healthcare facilities and coordinates existing-to-reuse equipment decision making and reuse strategies.
• Conducts value cost analysis and comparative equipment studies to recommend the most cost and time effective equipment/systems and identifies and presents various equipment options and advantages/disadvantages to meet clinical needs.
• Obtains equipment list signoffs from end users the end of design development and construction document phases.
• Maintains a current knowledge of medical equipment devices and systems and their applications and allocations within healthcare facilities and for direct patient care and knowledge of healthcare industry practices including hospital and clinic procedures and department functions.
• Produces initial clinical space equipment lists with required and appropriate clinical equipment while conducting efficient and effective medical equipment review meetings with clinical users and architects.
  
  

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic and intermediate medical equipment and its application within healthcare facilities.
• Knowledge of architectural and structural drawings and model coordination and ability to discuss with medical personnel, physicians, and administration, appropriate medical and operational support equipment.
• Highly organized, task driven, and able to meet multiple deadlines simultaneously with strong attention to detail is required, as are excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to develops accurate and complete equipment cut sheets and quotes.
• Document control / Information management and Proficient Presentation skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to identify coordination issues and Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  
  

Education

• Bachelor's degree required
• Bachelor's degree in science or healthcare preferred
• Registered Nurse preferred but not required
  
  

Experience

• Minimum 3 years in medical equipment planning or related field.
  
  

License And Certification

• TX BON License preferred
• PMP Certification preferred
