Focused on individuals aged 9-15 who can benefit from personalized mentorship, our program particularly supports at-risk youth from low-income or disadvantaged backgrounds. This pivotal role operates predominantly within Orem, engaging with youth and families to foster growth and development.
As a vital member of our team, you'll navigate various settings, including our Orem office, local schools, Utah County's 4-H events, and the residences of 4-H members in the Orem vicinity. A reliable mode of transportation is essential to fulfill these responsibilities.
This position offers flexible hours, averaging 15 to 20 hours per week. You'll actively participate in planning and executing multiple monthly events coordinated by our team, often scheduled on weeknights or Saturdays. Responsibilities
- Oversee and Cultivate Mentor/Mentee Matches: Manage and sustain 20 to 30 mentor/mentee partnerships within your designated site, ensuring meaningful and consistent connections.
- Recruit and Nurture Volunteer Adult Mentors: Attract and retain dedicated adult mentors by employing effective recruitment strategies and maintaining engagement through ongoing support.
- Conduct Interviews and Screening: Screen and interview potential adult mentors, ensuring alignment with program goals and values.
- Enroll and Engage Youth and Families: Recruit and engage youth and families into the program, highlighting its benefits and fostering active participation.
- Design and Execute Monthly Engagements: Strategize and execute engaging monthly events such as Family Night Out and Mentor/Mentee activities, fostering camaraderie and growth.
- Active Participation in Meetings and Trainings: Attend all staff meetings and training sessions to stay updated and aligned with program objectives and best practices.
- Curate Weekly Youth Club Activities: Organize and plan weekly club activities for youth, fostering an inclusive and growth-oriented environment.
- Mentor Training Development and Implementation: Devise and implement comprehensive training sessions for mentors, ensuring their continuous growth and effectiveness in their roles.
- Manage Site Data and Analytics: Maintain comprehensive site data, including volunteer records, youth/family information, surveys, and other pertinent data, facilitating informed decision-making and program evaluation.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Effective Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to collaborate and engage effectively with volunteers, youth, and families, fostering inclusive and supportive relationships.
- Tech Proficiency: Proficiency in basic computer skills encompassing Microsoft Applications, Google Drive, Gmail, and familiarity with social media platforms.
- Strong Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with outstanding interpersonal abilities to connect with diverse individuals.
- Initiative and Reliability: Proven track record as a self-starter with strong follow-through capabilities, able to initiate tasks and projects independently.
- Autonomous Work Ethic: Ability to operate efficiently with minimal supervision while maintaining high-quality work standards.
- Confidentiality Management: High regard for confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive information.
- Flexible Availability: Availability for evening commitments with openness to flexible scheduling.

Advertised Salary

The environment and physical requirements may change depending on the specific function of the work each department performs. Incumbents may be in both indoor and outdoor environments. Indoors, in an office space, event space, or public space are protected from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes.
Incumbents may nearly continuously sit and often use repetitive hand motion (such as typing).
Outdoors, incumbents may not be protected from weather conditions and may be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold. Additionally, indoor or outdoor work environments may include being confined or in narrow spaces for periods of time. The incumbent may also be exposed to loud noises or vibrations from equipment, and conditions that may affect the respiratory system, such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation. Bending, crawling, and crouching may be required. Incumbents may be required to lift, push, and/or pull objects up to 50 pounds and be required to walk and/or stand for long periods of time.
