Overview
The Computer Technician II is responsible for providing technical assistance and support to end-users in the Sorenson Center for Clinical Excellence related to computer systems, hardware, and software. They ensure that all systems run smoothly and efficiently and assist in the resolution of more complex technical issues. The department is willing to train a candidate that has the basic skills and experience listed in the Qualifications Section.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, including operating systems, software applications, and peripheral equipment.
- Respond to helpdesk tickets, emails, and phone calls to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- Assist users in setting up and maintaining workstations, including any necessary hardware or software upgrades.
- Diagnose and repair hardware and software failures.
- Implement system security measures, including the installation and maintenance of antivirus and malware protection software.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the latest technology trends, tools, and best practices.
- Train end-users on software applications, new systems, and best practices for maintaining their equipment.
- Collaborate with the IT team to optimize system performance and to implement system upgrades and replacements.
- Document all technical procedures and user guides for future reference.
- Participate in special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Two years’ experience OR a related Associates Degree OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking.
- Familiarity with common operating systems (e.g., Windows, macOS, IOS and Android) and software applications (e.g., MS Office, antivirus programs).
- A , Network , or similar certification.
- Four years' experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit or stand for extended periods of time and often uses repetitive hand motions. Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
