Installs, maintains and repairs physical transport and/or wide area network equipment. Analyzes existing networks and equipment and identifies opportunities for improvement. Identifies, analyzes, and repairs product failures, orders and replaces parts as needed. Determines and recommends which products or services best fit the customers' needs. Develops solutions that meet business requirements. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.UEN Specific Summary: Responsible for statewide provisioning and troubleshooting and repair of existing transport equipment for the Utah Education Network (UEN). A sound working knowledge of ROADM, DWDM, SONET, Cisco router/switch configuration and support is essential. Familiarity with large heterogeneous wide area networks and a demonstrated knowledge of networking circuits to include; gigabit Ethernet, metro Ethernet, OC-3, DS-3 and DS-1, plus experience with TCP/IP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, and supporting network applications, is required.
