What you will do

The Director of Regional Business Development Underwriting will spearhead our Regional Business Development Underwriting (RBDU) Consulting Team, serving as a pivotal technical resource to our Field Underwriting teams. This role is integral to implementing strategic risk selection across key business lines and managing book initiatives that foster profitable growth. The Ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership in guiding the team towards achieving these core objectives.

• Lead, Coach and Develop a team of talented Regional Business Development Underwriters (RBDU)
• Reinforcing and enhancing commercial lines underwriting strategy, guidelines, and pricing execution, both risk by risk and at an overall book level through oversight of the referral process.
• Develop and enhance the referral process so that effective knowledge transfer occurs from execution of the process, raising the level of underwriting expertise across the corporation.
• Identify opportunities for training based on feedback from RBDU’s. Communicate these to the Director of Underwriting Education and work to development training or communication to address the knowledge gaps.
• Foster strong underwriting relationships through oversight of a referral process that highlights accountability and collaboration.
• Lead or assist in work on Priority Projects where the subject matter expertise adds value to the quality of the project.
• Provide feedback on authority levels in general and of individual managers / underwriters.
• Create and monitor reports on referral activity and triggers used. Revisit these on a semi-annual basis to make sure they align with our corporate directives.
• Ownership of the Underwriting Manual to update and improve upon our guidance for the field staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Conforms with all corporate policies and procedures.

What you need:

• 7-10 years of Progressive Commercial Lines underwriting responsibilities, including middle market and large account analysis, strategic planning, expense control and process improvement preferred.
• 5 Years of leadership experience preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree- Business Management or Equivalent experience preferred.

Salary:

$127,700 - $191,600

This position is bonus eligible.

The final salary to be paid and position within the internal salary range will take into consideration the individual’s work experience, geographic location, education, certification(s) or additional qualifications, and scope and responsibilities within the role.
