Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in communications, information systems, design, or a related field, and three years of experience working professionally in the Internet/intranet/web field.
Job Summary:
The Web Communications and Operations Manager plays a key role in web development at the institutional or entity level. This role is responsible for driving, developing, maintaining, improving, implementing, trouble-shooting, assisting with, advising on, overseeing, measuring and guiding all manner of web-related endeavors.
Job Duties:
- Manage all aspects of institutional or entity-level home pages/web sites aimed at internal and external audiences, including brand-consistent design, user-friendly function, and mobile adaptations where appropriate.
- Develop and maintain new web and/or mobile applications to support communication aspects related to UTMB strategic priorities.
- Learn and evaluate new technologies related to web function and electronic communication; recommend appropriate use(s).
- Assist with crisis, critical or emergency communication, according to established protocols.
- Work as a liaison with Information Services, Public Affairs, and other web developers to ensure a smooth interface between the institution’s promotional goals, web objectives and technical capabilities.
- Be a leader of and a resource for campus web publishers through service on web-related committees, understanding the university and its needs, promote learning opportunities which will ultimately deepen the pool and increase the level of web expertise on campus.
- Incorporate principles of search engine optimization to improve traffic to UTMB sites, including analyzing log files/reports, tracking trends, and making appropriate recommendations based on results.
- Stay abreast of security and legal issues surrounding web site implementation; support UTMB’s compliance efforts, including those related to accessibility of information.
- When hired at institutional level, manage university identity system site and clarify and communicate related web standards.
- Assume primary responsibility for converting major publications into appropriate web formats.
- Serve on institutional/entity/departmental web committees as needed and serve as a web resource for departmental web publishers.
- Identifies appropriate internal controls for department; provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.
- Performs related duties as required.
Work Schedule:
Partial Remote, onsite on occasion, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.
Salary Range:
Commensurate with experience.
