JOB SUMMARY
The Central Supply Technician is responsible for providing clean, properly packaged, sterile instruments and supplies to meet individual customer needs.
The Central Supply Technician is responsible for decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing, labeling, performing biological quality controls and stocking supplies, instruments, and equipment for various UVA Health Northern VA & Culpeper departments.
Some of the major job functions are:
Communication: Collaborates with the leadership team and UCIC to identify and resolve unit issues.
Quality: Complies with established departmental and organization policies/guidelines.
Technical Competency: Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate to the age of the patients served.
The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience: 1 year of experience in a hospital Sterile Reprocessing Department preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
Licensure: Sterile Processing Tech certification required. CBSPD, CRCST or CSPDT required.
Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Demonstrates knowledge of instrumentation and sterile/aseptic technique. Ability to read and comprehend written instructions to assemble instrument sets and trays. Ability to learn and understand medical terminology. Maintains Sterile Processing Technician certification.
