JOB TITLE:
Assistant Professor, Family and Consumer Sciences, Design, Merchandising, and Textiles
JOB PURPOSE:
Instructional and research support for the Design, Merchandising, and Textiles unit, Family & Consumer Sciences
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This faculty member will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the Design, Merchandising and Textiles program. These courses may include, but are not limited to: 1) Global Sourcing for Textile Products, 2) Retail Math and Merchandise Planning for Textile Products, 3) Visual Merchandising for apparel and interiors, 4) Functions of the Design, Merchandising and Textiles Industries, and/or 5) Merchandising Technologies. Additional courses as part of the required teaching load will be negotiated as required. As a part of the teaching load, this individual will also be expected to manage a student-run retail/coffee shop space. In addition, the individual will be expected to conduct research/creative endeavors related to the merchandising, textiles or design fields and acquire external funding as appropriate for such scholarship; contribute to mentoring and recruitment of both undergraduate and graduate students throughout the calendar year; and provide service to the department, college, university and discipline.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsibilities will also include contributing to professional, departmental, and university service activities.
REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:
This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.
