Pooled Position Limited Tempor - Frontiers Magazine Editor in Chief

JOB TITLE:   

Frontiers Managing Editor 

JOB PURPOSE:   

Manage the Frontiers magazine print and online editions

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

• Manage overall magazines production (i.e. office organization, planning, content, deadlines).
• Provide coordination and consultation with Student Media staff in production of magazines. 
• Provide supervision and training of magazines staff.
• Provide short- and long-term plans for magazines program.
• Provide report of magazines operations to Student Media Board, including both verbal and written reports.
• Maintain a working relationship with Student Media online editor for timely publication of magazines content.
• Maintain at least 15 office hours a week.
• Help advertising sales staff with advertising efforts.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:  

• Must be available to start work Aug. 15 and return to work after Winter Break Jan. 9.
• Must be able to attend mandatory trainings on Monday nights.

COMPETENCIES:  

• Some supervisory experience.
• Some general experience in writing, photography and graphic design.
• Some general knowledge of online publications, including ideas for online magazine design and content
• Knowledge of AP style or willingness to learn.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY: 

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

• Full-time student
• Minimum 2.5 GPA

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

• Full-time student
• Minimum 2.5 GPA
• Magazine writing experience, including writing feature stories.
