POSITION OVERVIEW
UWC Transportation is looking to bring on a self-starting, people-oriented and operationally minded Operations Supervisor to primarily oversee and lead the day-to-day performance in key transportation areas. The Supervisor will drive improvements related to personnel, administration, maintenance and regulation compliance to name a few. The Leader also plays a critical role in ensuring the success within these business metrics. Additionally, the Supervisor will manage the performance of company equipment and maximize productivity between drivers and equipment utilization.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Supervises, trains and develops employees to ensure that they are performing job duties in accordance with established standards
- Provides backup to dispatchers and Operations Manager
- Work closely with Dispatchers and customer service to ensure all load plans are serviceable before being dispatched to a driver
- Keep track of driver hours and miles in coordination with Dispatchers to achieve maximum productivity in given hours. Maximize tractor and driver productivity
- Address driver communications and provide required data to drivers
- Coordinate with team leader to assess availability of re-power
- Maximize tractor and driver productivity
- Work with outside repair vendors and Service Manager
- Provide support to the Service Manager and Operations Manager with the tracking, scheduling, and maintenance of fleet company assets
- Provide support for safety and training programs, plans and processes to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements
- Other duties may be assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 years’ transportation leadership experience
- Experience managing a fleet of 40 truck drivers
- Demonstrated knowledge of trucking industry: logistics
- Knowledge of all related governmental regulations (OSHA, DOT)
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills
- In-depth interpersonal skills: emotional maturity, conflict resolution skills; demonstrated trust and empathy
- Computer proficiency: Microsoft Office; related logistics/transportation software packages
- High communication skills
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Not required)
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- Certificates achieved in the Logistics field
