Job Summary
The instructional coach supports teachers in improving their instructional practices by providing personalized professional development, collaborative planning, and data analysis. The coach works closely with teachers, administrators, and other staff to create a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in teaching.
Key Responsibilities
Professional Development:
- Design and deliver professional development sessions based on the needs of teachers.
- Provide individualized coaching to teachers through observation, feedback, and modeling best practices.
- Facilitate workshops, seminars, and training sessions on effective instructional strategies and educational technology.
Collaborative Planning:
- Collaborate with teachers to plan lessons that are aligned with curriculum standards and student needs.
- Assist in the development of instructional materials and resources.
- Support teachers in implementing differentiated instruction to meet diverse student needs.
Data Analysis:
- Analyze student performance data to identify areas for instructional improvement.
- Work with teachers to use data to inform instructional decisions and improve student outcomes.
- Monitor and assess the effectiveness of instructional strategies and interventions.
Classroom Support:
- Conduct classroom observations to gather data on instructional practices and student engagement.
- Provide real-time feedback and support to teachers during lessons.
- Model effective teaching strategies in the classroom.
Mentoring and Coaching:
- Build trusting relationships with teachers to encourage open dialogue and professional growth.
- Support new teachers through mentoring and induction programs.
- Foster a collaborative culture among staff members to share best practices and resources.
Program Development and Evaluation:
- Assist in the development and implementation of school improvement plans.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of instructional programs and initiatives.
- Provide recommendations for program adjustments based on data and feedback.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Communicate regularly with administrators, teachers, and other stakeholders about instructional goals and progress.
- Participate in professional learning communities (PLCs) and other collaborative groups.
- Serve as a liaison between teachers and administrators to align instructional practices with school and district goals.
- School Based Testing Coordinator:
- Work closely with the Principal and District Testing Coordinator.
- Train all staff on State Testing Policies and Regulations.
- Create and develop Testing Plans for all State and District Testing Events.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Valid teaching certification.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of successful teaching experience.
- Experience in coaching, mentoring, or providing professional development to teachers.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of current educational theories, practices, and instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to analyze data and use it to inform instructional decisions.
- Proficiency with educational technology and digital tools.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with teachers, administrators, and staff.
Working Conditions
- Full-time position with a typical work schedule of 40 hours per week.
- Work is primarily performed in a school setting, with some travel required for professional development and meetings.
- Collaborative work environment that requires frequent interaction with teachers, administrators, and other staff members.
