What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fiber Optics Installer position at V1 Fiber?
The fiber optic technician must have the ability or willingness to learn to prep/splice fiber optic cable and install fiber optic cable in outdoor settings in various weather conditions. Applicants must be able to provide a high-quality product and keep safety as a top priority while working.
Responsibilities
- Ability to read prints and understand the fiber optic color code to install and test fiber cable in a variety of environments.
- Ability to use fiber blowing and jetting equipment.
- Bond and ground fiber enclosures according to client specifications.
- Ability to install underground fiber optic cable in conduit using several several methods such as a fiber blowing machine, pulling machines, hand pulling, etc.
- Maintain a professional working attitude with co-workers and customers at all times and adhere to safety practices and procedures.
- Additional responsibilities as directed by lead technicians and supervisors.
Qualifications
- 1 to 3 years of experience as a fiber technician with experience on outside plant while working with blueprints, specifications, and system documentation.
- Will have a thorough working knowledge of most widely used construction practices of fiber cable.
- Must be fit for duty and physically capable of medium duty lifting and cable installation.
- All applicants must follow safety guidelines and wear personal protective equipment at all times.
- Must be able to work 40 hours a week. Overtime is optional but always available.
- Current valid drivers license with a clean driving record is required.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
