Job Responsibilities

As a Bridge Structural Engineer at V3 Companies, you’ll play a crucial role in our team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Engineering Drawings: Create detailed engineering drawings, including 3D bridge models, to support project design and construction.
  • Structural Analysis: Perform rigorous structural analysis and design calculations to ensure the safety and integrity of our bridges.
  • Inspections and Load Ratings: Conduct bridge inspections and load ratings, contributing to the ongoing maintenance and safety of existing structures.
  • Quantity and Cost Estimates: Prepare accurate quantity and cost estimates for construction projects.
  • Construction Specifications: Develop clear and comprehensive construction specifications that guide contractors during the building process.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other V3 disciplines on multi-faceted projects, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Adaptability: Be prepared to take on additional duties as needed to support project success.

Qualifications That Shine

  • Education: Hold a bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET Accredited university. A master’s degree with a structural focus is preferred.
  • Experience: 0-4 years of experience in bridge design, analysis, and load rating. Familiarity with projects for clients such as IDOT, Illinois Tollway, Chicago DOT, County DOTs, and local municipalities is a plus.
  • Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with design standards such as AASHTO, AREMA, IDOT, and ISTHA will be advantageous.
  • Software Proficiency: Be proficient in MicroStation, and familiarity with OpenBridge Modeler is a plus. Knowledge of design software like OpenBridge Designer, MDX, LPile, and STAAD is also beneficial.
  • Licensure: An EIT license is required, and a PE license would be a valuable addition.
