What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intrusion Analyst VV position at VA Systems & Technology?

Primary Location: Possible locations in the Extended Enterprise include Maryland, Georgia, Texas, Utah, and Hawaii. Positions at each location are subject to openings that can change on a monthly basis.

Position Summary: VaST is seeking qualified candidates with specialized experience to support our Intrusion Analyst needs in the Extended Enterprise.

Position Description: VaST is seeking qualified Intrusion Analysts Levels 1-3. The Intrusion Analyst will monitor networks by analyzing data collected from a variety of cyber defense tools to mitigate threats.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze target digital network data to discover, analyze, and document malicious and unauthorized activity using information collected from a variety of SIGINT and computer network defense resources.
  • Analyze metadata collected from tasked communications systems in order to identify, locate, and track targets, and to accurately report the intelligence gained from metadata analysis.
  • Categorize traffic as benign, suspicious, or malicious activity, and document malicious tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs). Develop and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Focus on network and/or host-based activity.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline from accredited college or university.
  • Relevant experience must be in malware analysis, Programming experience in C, C#, C , Java, Perl, or Python is preferred. CISSP, GIAC GREM or CREA Certification is preferred for Level 1.
  • CISSP, CEH, Sec , Net , GIAC GREM and/or CREA Certification is required for Levels 2 and 3.
  • Level 1- Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of relevant experience, Associates degree with 4 years of relevant experience may be considered for individuals with in-depth experience that is clearly related to the position.
  • Level 2- Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience, Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of relevant experience, Associates degree with 7 years of relevant experience may be considered for individuals with in-depth experience that is clearly related to the position.
  • Level 3- Master’s degree with 6 years of relevant experience, Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of relevant experience, Associates degree with 10 years of relevant experience may be considered for individuals with in-depth experience that is clearly related to the position.

Requirements:

  • Must have an active/current TS/SCI with Polygraph.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

  • Ability to effectively communicate in verbal and written communications.
