What we're looking for:
We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our Trust and Compliance team. The right candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles coupled with attention to detail. In order for this candidate to be successful, he/she must be highly self-motivated and directed, committed to solving problems efficiently, and interested in being part of an organization committed to continuous growth and improvement. This is a position that must be able to set the standard for integrity and professionalism and interact with a diverse team.
What you'll do:
Assist the Trust Accounting Compliance Team in the following tasks:
- Conduct periodic compliance reviews of real estate property management trust accounts
- Ensure compliance of trust regulations with policies and procedures for use of operating and trust restricted bank accounts
- Handle monthly trust bank account reconciliations in accordance with applicable regulations
- Prepare trust accounting records in accordance with applicable regulations
- Report on cash management issues to upper management
- Assist with accounting close process, to include journal entries, performing analytics and analysis, and other ad hoc reporting
- Assist team with compliance accounting process flow, including documentation of our processes and the design and implementation of enhancements using automation technology such as Alteryx
- Drive process improvements and research relevant accounting topics
- Assist with consolidation
- Correspond with other corporate departments to ensure proper accounting treatment of income and expenses
- Other tasks and projects as assigned
The skills you'll need:
- Degree in Accounting, CPA a plus
- 2-3 years of experience in auditing, or corporate accounting
- Strong knowledge of Excel and Google G-Suite; experience with Alteryx is highly preferred
- Familiarity with accounting software and account reconciliations (experience working with Netsuite is a bonus)
- Attentive to detail
- Innovative when it comes to process inefficiencies
- Strong adherence to internal controls
- Adaptable and thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to deal effectively with people and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
