Job Description
We are looking for a Landscape Manager to perform daily management, coordination and oversight of the communities' landscape contract and landscaping projects. This position is responsible for upkeep of the West Phase community landscape and hardscape. This position is also responsible for the supervision of the day-to-day operational activities of the grounds maintenance contracted staff, including litter control and abatement and snow removal. Responsibilities include but are not limited to; planning, developing, prioritizing, and managing a variety of activities included in the communities' comprehensive landscaping program. This person should proactively develop and propose processes, procedures and programs in all areas of landscape operations. Further, the landscape Manager will assist and manage condominium specific landscape projects outside of the base contract and manage all tree maintenance and tree contractors
Objectives
- Plan and schedule work with the community landscape contractor in accordance with seasonal needs, the community calendar, and current weather conditions to assure that established standards for appearance, plant health, cleanliness, and public safety are attained on a daily basis. Work closely with Phase Councils and within budgetary allocations for common area landscaping.
- Optimize the utilization of contracted staff, temporary staff and outside contractors to meet department goals.
- Develop policies and standards for landscape maintenance in the community.
- Inspect contracted work to ensure that standards for work quality, established operating procedures, productivity, and safety practices are being satisfactorily maintained.
- Stay abreast of any government rules and regulations that apply to landscaping activities and ensure that strict compliance is maintained.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
- 5 years of crew management in landscaping or a related field.
- Strong computer skills using Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in a closely related field.
- Excellent administrative, interpersonal, leadership, multi-tasking, follow-up, and communication skills, oral and written.
- Ability to interface with all levels of personnel both internally and outside the company.
- Demonstrated skill in planning, directing, and administering landscaping operations.
- Skill in preparing written reports and making verbal presentations.
- Willingness to learn and continuously improve.
- Extensive knowledge of grounds management and horticultural practices related to the Southern Delaware area. This includes knowledge of applicable government regulations.
- Solid horticultural/landscaping experience.
- Project management experience.
- Knowledge of lake management/erosion, irrigation systems, turf management, water infiltration issues, problems with geese and deer damage to plants.
