Position Summary :
The Vallen Service Tech I - Rental & Turnaround position is to perform Inspections, Testing, Maintenance and Repairs (ITM) to Life Safety Equipment owned by the Vallen Rental Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Stock shelves with boxes of product and rental equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Inventory all product and rental equipment, on a daily basis, to confirm all items are accounted for
- Issue / return product and rental equipment as well as generate reports from POS computer system
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Clean and sanitize respirators
- Conduct field-level inspections on breathing air equipment, fall protection, and gas detection
- Complete inspection reports on all equipment
- Install airline hose throughout units of chemical plants / refineries
- Lift / pull 50 lbs. and climb 100 feet on vertical ladders
- Inspect fall protection equipment
- Comply with fall protection protocols
- Inspect breathing air system for leaks and potential hazards
- Log pressures and system statistics
- Monitor compressor trailer for gas detection, pressure, and upcoming maintenance
Job Qualifications :
- High School or GED
- Minimum 5 years Rental and Turnaround related experience
- Minimum 2 Certifications (manufacturing / state) in a fire protection related field
- Mechanically inclined
- Minimum 1-year related experience
- Mechanically inclined
- Specific RELEVENT experience
- Experience in the installation and / or maintenance, repair and service of life safety systems and equipment.
- Ability to repair and service equipment sold by Vallen.
- Current Motor Vehicle License with good driving record.
- Proficient with hand tools.
- Able to complete repairs and maintenance of equipment in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist warehouse personnel with order fulfillment if needed.
- Maintain minimum productivity of 95% within 60 days.
- Keep all certifications and licenses current and renewed by completing continuing education as required.
- Ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process and quality instructions).
- Must pass Drug & Alcohol screen, Physical exam, and background check.

- Occasional lifting of items weighting a maximum of 55 pounds.
- Ability to climb stairwells up to 15 levels high.
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders (step, extension, cage) up to 24' high.
- Able to walk at a normal pace for up to 15 continuous minutes.
- Able to work from a standing position for 8-10 hours.
- Bending, climbing and stooping as needed for access of equipment to repair and service.
