Role Qualifications: Must be able to perform duties associated with the Burn-Table job progression matrix. Must be able to assist Supervisor in improving working conditions (safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity.
Position Summary: A Burn Table position is responsible to set up and operate CNC Plasma and Laser cutting tables. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Perform a variety of duties including grinding, deburring, cleaning of parts, cutting, and removal of scrap. Accurately complete all paperwork associated with the jobs. The operator performs a variety of tasks requiring basic skill, accuracy, efficiency, safe machine, and tool operation, while planning, staging loading/unloading tables. Must have solid reading and comprehension skillset and common knowledge of different metal varieties; be competent in the use of a variety of measuring devices and skilled in shop math computations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure work is performed according to Documentation, Drawings, Engineering Standards Quality Manual Standards, and (GMP) Good Manufacturing Practices. Translate general work requirements into a prioritized work plan.
Daily activities are material preparation, staging, grinding, sanding, and scraping.
Must wear PPE at all times, hearing protection, vision protection, steel-toed shoes, and other appropriate protective clothing.
Perform all necessary quality checks during production and follow procedures when defective parts are discovered.
Keep track of the number of parts produced, time spent on jobs and record all necessary information according to procedures.
Undertakings include identifying proper materials, loading and unloading material onto burn tables.
Ensure that the parts are properly marked with part numbers, job numbers, quantities and are visible on the pallet and stage in the staging area.
Stage jobs in designated location according to staging plan or work instructions.
Must check burn parts according to drawings and report to the supervisor immediately on any damaged or missing parts and any other critical items.
Ensure the parts are not damaged during unloading, cleaning, grinding, and deburring, Make certain that the parts are monitored closely during this process ensuring no parts get lost or misplaced.
Make sure the machines and the work area are clean prior to shift end in the department and assist in maintaining and upkeep the facility, property, and equipment according to housekeeping procedure.
Clean machines and slats on regular basis according to company procedure or manufacturer recommendations.
Ensure the material PO# or Mill# are recorded on the work order and marked or transferred to raw material before returned to the yard.
Display a professional attitude and respectful working relationships amongst co-workers at all times
Prior to requesting inspection (Q.C) employees must self-check the parts according to drawings and verifying qualities.
Follow the safety rules, safety procedures, and all company rules, policies, and procedures around the department and encourages others as well.
Perform different miscellaneous tasks that are instructed by the supervisor or management.
Qualification/Requirements:
Preferred education, a high school diploma or GED or equivalent highly desired.
Must be able to communicate and work well with others and have good oral/written communication skills.
Must have basic math skills be able to read a tape measure and use other measuring devices.
Demonstrate efficiencies when operating burn table by staging, loading, and unloading, while burning is in motion.
Must be punctual and have excellent attendance, be able to work at least 40 hrs per week, be available to work overtime when necessary.
Demonstrate ability to be detail-oriented and pay close attention to accuracy and verbal directions.
Must have some fabrication tools of the trade, and must be able to read and decipher job order forms.
Must operate all necessary equipment and use of various power tools, saws, Ironworkers, drill press, punches, torches, portable plasma, sanders, overhead cranes, and jib cranes.
Must be able to read and understand some symbols that pertain to the department, be acceptable in reading blueprints, fabrication drawings, verbal instruction, work with sketches or samples at a basic level of competency
Need to be available to work other shifts.
Must be knowledgeable of some machine controls, calibrations, capacities, and capabilities according to manufacturer specs.
Must have experience in the metal processing industry and good working knowledge with metal burning equipment.
Need one or more years’ experience in operating plasma/laser/ and/or CNC cutting machines.
Must demonstrate the ability to use pro nest software.
Must be able to pass forklift certification and operate forklifts in a safe manner to transport materials to burn tables and designated shelves, racks, or staging areas.
Physical Requirements
This position requires Squat/kneel, bend/stoop, crawl, twist/turn, grasp, push, reach overhead, and outward frequently. Also requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs on regular basis and stand or walk up to 10 hours per day.
Occasional work outside in various weather conditions and work near moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and moderate to high noise levels.
