Payroll Specialist

Summary:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for preparing and processing biweekly payroll, which includes ensuring payroll is completed timely, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. This position generates and analyzes payroll reports and conducts regular payroll-related audits. The Payroll Specialist ensures accurate and timely submission of payroll taxes and other statutory deductions. This position works collaboratively with Finance, Human Resources, as well as department leaders across VHP, and may participate in finance related projects as necessary.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Required: High School diploma
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Management, Accounting or related field.
Experience:
- Required: One year of payroll experience. Experience with payroll, timecard, and HRIS software.
- Preferred: More than three years of payroll experience in a healthcare environment. Experience using UKG for payroll.
Certificate/Training:
- Certified Payroll Professional (CCP), preferred.
Special Skills:
- Strong Excel experience and knowledge.
- Knowledge of tax compliance.
- Advanced math skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Strong organizational, attention to detail, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to handle issues involving sensitivity and confidentiality.
- Ability to meet hard deadlines and work under pressure.
