What You Will Do:
The IP Therapy Acute Care Team Leader (ACTL) supports the mission, initiatives and vision of Valley Health by providing best-practice quality services to customers. As an active member of the interdisciplinary team, the ACTL responds to physician referrals, incorporates the medical and skilled needs of patients, and provides discipline-specific interventions to improve safety and functional independence. The ACTL is also responsible for overseeing the professional development of clinical staff through the identification of educational objectives, including discipline-specific continuing education courses as needed; the promotion of general learning opportunities; and monitoring of yearly departmental and individual goals. This oversight extends to the planning, presentation and evaluation aspects of PT/OT/SLP education activities, compliance with individual professional competencies, and the appropriate orientation of new department employees. The ACTL will model professional behavior in the workplace and support an atmosphere conducive to professional and individual growth.
What You Will Bring:
Education
Post Graduate Certificate, Bachelor's, Master's or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy, or Post Graduate Certificate, Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy, or Master's degree and CCC in Speech/Language Pathology.
Experience
Minimum of five years acute care IP therapy required
Certification & Licensures
PT, OT, or SLP License - Virginia required
BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - AHA approved required*
* New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.
Qualifications
Basic computer and keyboarding skills or participation in computer training within the first year of employment.
Competent to successfully interact with patients, according to their special needs based upon the age of the patient served - Age Specific Competencies.
Proficiency with advanced clinical knowledge for the provision of discipline specific interventions.
Understands hospital and departmental HRO principles, Performance Improvement and outcomes management.
