VIPS is a well established Pulmonary clinic that is growing rapidly and looking to expand our billing department. The Medical Office Biller is responsible for submitting charges to appropriate insurances in a timely manner and assist with other billing tasks as assigned. This individual will work with doctors to ensure accurate billing codes are utilized in claims and supported by appropriate documentation. Individual ensures duties are completed in a timely and proper manner. The Medical Office Biller will also be responsible to provide coverage for insurance verification when needed.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:

· High School diploma or GED (required)

· Certification obtained from an accredited Medical Billing & Coding Program

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

· Previous experience in a clinic setting

· Bilingual

· Excellent interpersonal skills

· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other external parties in a courteous, respectful and friendly manner at all times

· High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

· Proficient in data entry

· Firm grasp on medical practices, administrative processes, and organizational policies

· Knowledge and experience of third-party regulations including Medicare, Veterans Affairs, commercial insurance, etc.

· Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications

· Must be detail-oriented and highly organized

· Must adhere to confidentiality policies at all times

RESPONSIBILITIES AND VARIABLE JOB DETAILS:

· Contact insurance carriers to verify patient’s insurance eligibility, benefits and requirements.

· Accurately submit hospital charges in our EMR system for billing.

· Ensure hospital charges match consultation notes.

· Assist with office charges when applicable.

· Demonstrate and apply knowledge of medical terminology, high proficiency of general medical office procedures including HIPAA regulations.

· Communicate any insurance changes or trends among team.

· Maintains a level of productivity suitable for the department.

· Clearly document all communications and contacts with providers and personnel in standardized documentation requirements, including proper format.

· All other duties as assigned.
