Job Opening: Secondary Music Teacher

The Valor Beaverton Campus seeks a skilled, professional, and culturally competent individual to teach Music at the Secondary Level. This position will provide classroom instruction to students following Valor Christian School International standards and methods for instruction. The teacher will promote curiosity, creativity, and the exploration of ideas and concepts while fostering an appreciation for lifelong learning for history. While this position is part-time, with the right candidate that can pick up additional classes at the secondary level, we will be able to offer a full-time position. This position reports directly to the Secondary Team Lead. In addition to the qualifications detailed below, the successful candidate possesses the ability to grow and develop as a professional and to support the VCSI educational mission. This is a part-time, academic-year position that starts in August 2024.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS or equivalent in the area of Music, or related to music education.
  • Experience with Global Perspectives
  • Intercultural competence, ability to interact appropriately and teach with a diverse array of students, coworkers, family members
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MS Degree
  • Experience with Missions

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

· Teach utilizing the latest research, best practices, and standards-based scope and sequence

  • Knowledge of educational technology; openness to innovation, willingness to learn, ability to integrate biblical and global competence into curriculum
  • Interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate, work effectively on teams and maintain collegial relations with colleagues; must possess written and verbal communication skills, ability to convey complex information about students to families in an appropriate and sensitive manner
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines

Job Type: Full-time

· Salary Range: $38,000 - $45,000 for the full time position annually, part time would be a percentage of that amount

· Health Insurance and Disability insurance

· All full-time staff receive tuition remission for their children.
