- Valvoline World Headquarters is located in Lexington, KY, but we invite remote candidates to apply as well. Ideally, we would like candidates located in nearby markets (Cincinnati, Louisville, and Nashville), but we are open to other locations.
How You’ll Make an Impact
The Benefits & Leave Specialist is responsible for managing Valvoline’s leave of absence programs for the non-retail populations in the United States and Canada. Additionally, this position is responsible for implementation, communication, analytics and process improvement for the United States and Canada benefit plans (including health & welfare, retirement, and time off). In the role, you would be responsible for:
- Coordinating leaves of absences and the applicable payroll reports with third party administrator for FMLA, state leaves, STD/LTD, medical, workers’ compensation, etc. within the U.S. and Canada (non-retail) to ensure consistency and compliance with all laws and regulations.
- Respond to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes, appeals and other general inquiries.
- Proactively managing Return to Work program and ADA interactive process for accommodations (non-retail). Coordinate with legal, outside vendors and applicable parties, as necessary. Act as subject matter expert and resource to employees, leaders, and providers regarding leaves and accommodation requests by providing counsel, as appropriate, concerning processes and procedures.
- Staying current with best practices and proactively reviewing benefit trends and statistics to identify areas for improvement.
- Partnering with the benefit team, planning and assisting with various projects, executing strategic initiatives, open enrollment or other presentations to employees as needed. Provide back-up for other benefits team members.
- Assisting with ongoing compliance efforts. Ensure all plan filings and audits are performed to maintain compliance including, but not limited to, ERISA, FMLA, HIPAA, DOL and IRS. Responsible for all government filings and required participant communications as applicable.
- Drafting benefits and leave related employee communications for review, including a monthly newsletter and content for our employee portal.
- Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field
- Minimum of five years' professional work experience in benefits, leave management, workers compensation and accommodation administration within a large company, $1B , 1,000 employees multi-site/state
Knowledge of state, local and federal leave laws, and disability programs such as ADA and FMLA
Knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws, including ERISA and IRC regulations
High level of attention to detail
Ability to organize work, think independently, set priorities, manage multiple projects and lead with professionalism
Ability to draft various communications drawing information from plan documents, contracts etc.
Ability to draft new policies and procedures, and/or ability to modify existing policies and procedures
Ability to develop relationships and collaborate and influence others to work effectively with a wide range of employees
Ability to analyze complex information, define and problem solve
Team player
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
