What are the responsibilities and job description for the CMM Programmer and Inspector position at Van-Am Tool & Engineering?
The CMM Programmer position will program and operate a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) in support of Customer and Engineering dimensional inspection needs. The position will perform First Article layouts, probability studies, production inspection routines and partial inspections as required from engineering and manufacturing. Data must be summarized in layout inspection reports such as AS9102 forms and/or other statistical software. Position also analyzes acquired data to understand and communicate overall dimensional quality as it relates to customer definition and requirements.
Eligibility Requirements (Skills):
- Proficient in CMM programming, operation, and interpretation of inspection
- Programming experience in a 3D working environment where strict DPD standards are
- The ability to view and interrogate, customer supplied 3D
- The ability to read, understand and interpret drawings as well as customer specifications and
- Able to interpret parts list and Assembly
- Well versed in reading and understanding of Geometric dimensioning and tolerances, per ASME 5M-1994.
- Well versed in basic mechanical inspection tools (i.e., caliper, micrometer, protractor, height gage, verniers, conductivity meter, hardness tester, bore gage, optical comparator, and indicators).
- Proficiency in fundamentals of dimensional metrology and the ability to troubleshoot, find, and fix errors from inaccurate methods of inspection.
