Van Metre has a CDL Class A Driver / NCCCO Crane Operator position available at our Van Metre BASE in Winchester, VA!
Roles & Responsibilities:
The CDL Driver (A) is responsible for loading and transporting materials from the manufacturing plant to the job site in a safe and efficient manner. In addition to loading and unloading of materials operating a hydraulic boom lift in a safe and efficient manner.
Position Summary:
Essential Responsibilities
- Drive a truck rated over 26,001 lb.
- Operate cranes of various sizes, including hydraulic, and telescopic cranes, in a safe and efficient manner
- Perform routine inspections of the crane to ensure proper functioning.
- Rig and de-rig load to ensure proper weight distribution and stability.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and guidelines as they pertain to lifts.
- Completing a thorough load check on your truck before leaving the facility, ensuring that all delivery materials are firmly secured, and all parts of your truck are in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Read and interpret load charts to determine crane capacities and lift requirements.
- Coordinate with the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to maintain accurate records of crane operation, maintenance, and inspection activities.
- Operate a roll off or flat bed with the possibility of an attached forklift.
- Ensures correct loading of products onto vehicle.
- Deliver products to various delivery locations.
- Unloads products at job site when necessary.
- Determine the condition of vehicle by inspecting vehicle before and after use.
- Responsible for completing daily driver logs.
- Responsible for maintaining an updated knowledge base of DOT regulations.
- Responsible for following all DOT regulations.
- Maintains a safe vehicle and conditions and protects load by complying with organization policies and procedures and highway rules and regulations.
- Responsible for reporting any vehicle damage and repairs.
- Responsible for meeting driver MVR requirements
- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- Must possess a Class A CDL driver license.
- Must have up to date NCCCO certificate.
- Must meet company driving record requirements.
- Must provide current Motor Vehicle Record.
- Must pass all preemployment screenings and background checks.
- Must provide a valid medical certificate.
- Knowledge of crane safety procedures and regulations
Other Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Education/Credentials: High school diploma or its equivalent preferred
- Training: Forklift
- Experience: 1-2 years previous experience
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Proven ability to apply math, writing, and language skills
