The Director of Manufacturing is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing process, including facilities and equipment maintenance. Analyzes and optimizes processes to identify ways to improve efficiency and increase productivity. Establishes and enforces standard operating procedures, and ensures all staff are meeting quality standards while also maintaining safe working conditions. Responsible for supervising staff, coordinating with other departments, and managing budgets.

They must have strong leadership skills and be able to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all quality and safety standards of the company and holds staff accountable for the same.
  • Perform safety audits as required.
  • Oversees the manufacture of products, ensuring production, performance, and quality standards are consistently met. Resolves issues as they arise.
  • Reviews production reports to ensure safety, quality, financial, and delivery goals and standards are met.
  • Ensures a healthy and safe working environment, and compliance with federal and state regulations, through collaboration with environmental, health, and safety staff.
  • Assists chief operating officer with long-range operating goals, expansion efforts, and implementation of new and advanced technology.
  • Identifies and shares training opportunities for staff to build and improve skills.
  • Organizes departmental management structure and teams for optimal, efficient operations.
  • Delivers progress and production reports to executive team members as requested.
  • Supervises equipment purchase, maintenance, and layout.
  • Support implementation of cost, quality, and service improvement initiatives.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Implements productivity improvement projects
  • Collaborates with cross function team on the S&OP process
  • Works with the R&D team to create prototypes
  • Collaborates with Manufacturing Engineering team in the implementation of process improvements.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Oversees and participates in the recruitment, hiring, and training of manufacturing and maintenance supervisors and employees.
  • Oversees schedules and assignments for the department.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Bachelor's in business, engineering or other related area preferred, 5-7 years manufacturing leadership experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in aviation manufacturing a plus.
  • Ability to think critically and pay attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to use leadership skills to help with problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Training in Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other individuals and teams.
  • Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) and CNC.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and managerial skills.
  • Thorough understanding of the policies and practices used in manufacturing.
  • Ability to set long-term goals and communicate them to others.
  • Ability to motivate and organize multiple efforts to accomplish goals.

Work Environment

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to quickly traverse manufacturing areas.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, crawl, stretch, lay, and squat in order to maintain equipment.
