- Vancer is expanding its footprint in Pasco, Washington to better serve our railroad customers! We’re looking for a Shop Technician to who will play a key role in the success of our growth. As a technician, you will provide practical technical expertise as it relates to inspecting, troubleshooting and repairing Railroad equipment.
Essential & Primary Job Duties:
TECHNICIAN DUTIES
- Analyzes and diagnoses machining, machine malfunctions, etc. to coordinate corrective and preventive procedures and to prevent excessive downtime and interrupted schedules.
- Coordinates equipment repair and maintains thorough documentation on all maintenance performed on machine shop equipment. Schedules and performs maintenance on equipment.
- Repair damaged or improper functioning equipment and attachments. Troubleshoots any circuit or failure by use of computer software, digital multi meter, hand and pneumatic tools. References CAT Service Information Systems (SIS) to locate service letters, service magazines, technical information bulletins, and special instructions pertaining to failures and technical issues.
- Tests and adjusts new, used and updated products/machinery to ensure new designs, circuits and products are set to perform to fullest potential. Calibrate or adjust equipment to ensure quality production.
- Researches SIS and outside sources to find components to perform desired functions required, along with safety, ergonomic, hydraulic, electrical and mechanical products.
- Collaborates between various departments finding most efficient and productive way to meet the customer’s needs.
- Prepares all required forms and reports, such as work orders, warranty information and SIMS reports, charges out time, documents expenses and purchase orders, ensuring accuracy of detail daily. Orders and returns needed parts via service order via appropriate method.
- Follows all safety policies and procedures, including contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations. Reports potentially unsafe conditions. Uses equipment and materials properly. Attends safety meetings as required. Maintains tools in good working order as per MSHA and OSHA regulations. Maintains a clean work area in accordance to contamination control and NMC standards.
- Participates in all job-related training and applicable development classes to maintain current knowledge base on machines serviced by Vancer.
