Job Description

The Senior Construction Manager provides the onsite leadership, coordination, and direction for construction management activities for multiple or complex projects. Duties include ensuring the project(s) are on budget, schedule, and the design fits the requirements for the contracts. Will supervise construction management team, which may consist of Construction Manager(s), Assistant Construction Manager(s), Field/Project Engineer(s), field administrative staff and other project staff as assigned. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

The Senior Construction Manager is responsible for providing the following services or for supervising the Construction Management team members who perform these services:

• Provides construction management services on multiple or complex projects
• Strong knowledge of contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements for projects
• Responsible as onsite liaison with contractor and oversight of progress of construction
• Coordinates, directs, and monitors activities of contractors/subcontractors, engineers, architects, and related performing entities
• Manages project controls, cost, schedule, performance activities, and procedures or as required by the client
• Conducts project meetings and provides meeting minutes, documentation, administration, and tracking of relevant information
• Ensures contractors, architects, and engineers will adhere to contractual requirements on areas of safety, performance, project staff, and equipment
• Provides management of project logistics, organization and safety
• Ensures project closeout to obtain guarantees, warranties, and related provisions for turnover to the owner, including closeout requirements
• Ensures project team adheres to safety requirements
• Performs other duties as required to ensure project success

Minimum Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture (Extensive relevant construction management experience in place of education may be considered)
• Minimum of 15 years experience in design/construction industry preferred
• Design/Build Delivery Method experience required
• Federal/State Detention Experience or City/County Public Safety Facilities Experience (EOC, 911 Call Centers, Co-Located Fire/Sheriff Dispatch Facilities, Fueling Stations) required
• Knowledge and application of construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles, techniques, materials, applications, and practices are required
• Strong oral and written communication skills are required
• DGS experience preferred
• CHP Field Office Construction experience preferred
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products, and experience with project-related Construction Management systems are preferred
• Registration as an Architect, Professional Engineer, and/or licensed as a General Contractor is preferred
• Certified Construction Manager preferred

Offered rate of compensation will be based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including education, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. The Salary range for this position is $135,000-$160,000.
