What are the responsibilities and job description for the QA/QC Lab Technician position at Vantage?
Responsibilities:
To carry out quality control laboratory analyses in a safe manner following the correct procedures and accurately reporting data in a timely way as well as drawing attention to any unusual results. The technician also supports the lab by doing calibrations, purchasing/maintaining chemicals and stocks, carrying out housekeeping and disposing of lab waste properly. All work is done within the ISO 9000 quality system and cGMPs.
After training, safely conduct analytical testing by following Vantage SOP’s, AOCS, USP/NF or other official methods on samples using all instruments in the QC Lab so all testing is to be done in a timely manner, accurately reported in LIMS and allows the approval and release of product.
Undertake all requisitioning and purchasing needed for the Lab and its supplies using the approved system so that these are obtained in a timely and cost-effective manner and the lab runs out of nothing needed.
Maintain the lab with the correct chemicals and equipment supplies delivered and the removal of lab waste daily so the lab functions smoothly and meets relevant standards.
All records of purchasing, COAs for purchased chemicals, calibrations for equipment, whether done internally, by sending outside or by the manufacturer during a PM visit are to be properly electronically stored to meet ISO 9000 standards.
All calibrations are to be done in a timely way, so all equipment is within calibration before use and records kept.
To work both independently and in the team so all work is handled smoothly and all communication to others in the lab, QA, production and the warehouse is accurate and timely. This includes any for out of specification results and product testing delays.
Maintain good safe housekeeping, contribute to overall cleaning, glassware washing and lab organization as well as maintaining retains and their proper storage, so the lab functions well.
Required:
2 years of chemical lab experience including wet chemistry and some instrumentation.
Computer competence to include email, MS Office, also internal databases.
Clearly communicate needs and results both in writing and verbally among the quality and operations team in Linden.
Good organizational and record keeping skills, ability to make decisions based on results and prioritize lab needs and daily work.
Flexible to work other shifts and be able to work overtime if needed.

Safety:
All procedures in the lab must be executed following appropriate safety protocols. The lab operates in accordance with cGMP and ISO 9001:2015 and follows GLP – good laboratory practice.
Must conduct a minimum of two safety audits per month and attend required safety training as scheduled.
Must properly dispose of lab waste into approved receptable cans located in flammable cabinet.
Must follow safety protocols while working with samples on the lab bench, under the fume hood and while transferring samples between the workspaces within the laboratory.
Must use appropriate PPE as required according to the task performed.
