IT Technical Support Specialist (St Louis, MO)
The IT Technical Support Specialist is responsible for contributing to the daily operations of the IT technical support team. This position will deliver exceptional support to internal employees and contractors through phone, email, chat and video. This individual is expected to support the completion of tickets for remote employees and contractors, providing technical support in the Clayton, St Louis office, supporting executives with their day to day technical needs, onboarding and offboarding of equipment and helping with ad-hoc projects.
Qualifications:
- 2 year(s) of relevant experience in a corporate IT environment.
- Extensive knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networks.
- Maintaining communication between team members, management, and clients to ensure timely delivery of projects.
- Expertise in working with Mac OS.
- Proficient with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Time management skills and the ability to establish reasonable and attainable deadlines for resolution.
- Ability to prioritize and manage several milestones and projects efficiently.
- Ability to keep up with technical innovation and trends in IT support.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with Jira or using other ticket management software.
- Experience and skills with A/V equipment and managing presentations/webinars.
- Bachelor's degree in related field a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Clearly communicate escalated issues to management.
- Installing and configuring new technology to be used by the company, such as hardware, operative systems, and programs or applications.
- Ensuring regular maintenance occurs on existing hardware and computer systems.
- Providing assistance to company staff with technology-related issues via slack, video conferencing, in-person, and email:
- Understanding the issue and its cause;
- solving the problem;
- explaining the problem to the staff member; and
- translating technical information where appropriate
- Replacing damaged or malfunctioning parts on hardware when necessary.
- Managing the lifecycle of company equipment.
- Ordering new parts when out of stock.
- Implementing and assisting on the rollout of new applications or operating systems:
- Learning about the new application or operating systems;
- Maintaining system functionality by testing new computer components;
- running tests before implementing them in all systems and providing feedback to the vendor if needed;
- evaluating new applications or operating systems; and
- installing them on all systems in the company
- Assist in the creation of easy to follow “How-To” documentation.
- Setting up accounts; emails, issuing access passes for new employees and assisting in all account-related issues.
- Deactivating accounts; emails, and other access for separated employees.
- Run security checks to ensure we are protected from cybersecurity threats.
- Addressing privacy related requests related to data deletion.
- Installing or maintaining network or infrastructure devices.
- Help maintain/draft documentation where needed.
- Collaborate with all members of the Varsity Tutors’ team to implement and enable employees as it relates to hardware and software in their day-to-day activities.
- Participate in on-call rotation for technical hardware/software emergencies.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull and transport objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
