The Opportunity:
Vault is searching for a seasoned Associate General Counsel to help us through the next phase of our company's growth and expansion. The Associate General Counsel will report to our General Counsel and support product, regulatory, and licensing matters. They will partner with the executive team on a variety of regulatory, clinical, product, and compliance initiatives. This is a unique opportunity for someone who is excited about building foundational processes and impacting the long-term goals of the company.
The ideal candidate will have hands on experience in healthcare and life science (HCLS) law with a substantive background and significant experience in handling legal issues pertaining to the HCLS industry, payor contracting and regulations, including compliance and regulatory advice, (e.g. CLIA, Physician Payments Sunshine Act), fraud and abuse ( Anti-kickback, Stark and CMP provisions); Medicare accountable care organizations (ACOs) and other payment alignment systems, Medicare and Medicaid enrollment, billing, and reimbursement is required. The ability to provide transactional support for healthcare M&A, joint ventures, public offerings deals, and healthcare contracting, clinical research, software as a medical device (SaMD), telemedicine and/or internal investigations, is preferred. Experience with government contracts is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with clinical operations, Life Sciences and Product to provide legal support and counsel for new and existing technology solutions and/or clinical services (terms and conditions, regulatory requirements, etc.)
- Partner with and serve as liaison between outside counsel and Vault Health, as necessary
- Support our provider entities, with a strong understanding of corporate practice of medicine
- When needed, create processes for efficient workflows
- Build compliance requirements, where necessary and required
Qualifications:
- Must have a J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school and be an active member of the Bar in good standing.
- 5 years of practicing in a law firm, in-house, or government
- Strong knowledge of the healthcare space, with previous experience directly working with telehealth laws, including but not limited to HIPAA, Anti-kickback statutes, Stark, group health plans, ERISA plans, or provider groups
- Additional experience with reimbursement, is strongly preferred.
- Experience building or supporting the legal foundation of a startup organization, in either an internal or external capacity
- Certification in Healthcare Compliance or Compliance is preferred, e.g., HCP, CPC, CHC, CPA, CIA, or CCEP
